Achmad Soebardjo Biography

Hello everyone, my name is Naia Nabila Hadian. In this opportunity,i will explain about one of Indonesia's national heroes, Achmad Soebardjo.

Achmad Soebardjo was born in Teluk Jambe, Karawang Regency,West java, on 23 March 1896. His father's name was Teuku Muhammad Yusuf. His Mother's name was Wardinah.

Achmad Soebardjo was an Indonesia's first freedom fighter, diplomat, and foreign minister. Achmad Soebardjo holds the title of Meester in de Rechten, (Mr.) earned and University of Leiden, The Netherlands.

Initially, his father gave him the name Teuku Abdul Manaf, but his mother gave him the name Achmad Soebardjo."Djojoadisoerjo" was added by himself. While still a student, Soebardjo was active in the struggle for Indonesian independence through several organizations such as Jong Java and Indonesian Student Association in the Netherlands. In February 1927, he became the representative of Indonesia with Mohammad Hatta and experts of the Indonesian movements in the international trials.

During the Rengasdenklok, Achmad Soebardjo representing the elderly succeeded in convincing the young people represented by Wikana to reclaim Sukarno-Hatta to Jakarta to proclaim independence.

Achmad Soebardjo Djojoadisoerjo died at 82 years old (15 December 1978) at Pertamina Hospital, Kebayoran Baru, due to the flu that caused complications. He was buried in his rest home in Cipayung, Bogor.
